From audio options, select "soundcard" (it will say "rpi-bcm2835-auto" next to it)ĥ. From the DietPi-Config screen, select "option 2 : audio options"Ĥ. SSH into the Raspberry Pi, and enter "dietpi-config" (no quotes)ģ. Once the updates have completed the Raspberry Pi will reboot. After first boot, SSH into the Raspberry Pi and DietPi will prompt to update. Follow the instructions for setting up DietPi on the DietPi site, including connecting to your wifi network (don't worry about adjusting any audio settings/sources in config.txt, DietPi has an easier way once it's up and running). Here's how I got everything working on a raspberry pi zero w with dietpi & shairpoint-sync:ġ. Used the DietPi distro (and it's preconfigured shairpoint-sync install) and it was essentially plug & play to get the tinyToslink up and running! Purchased to use on a Raspberry Pi Zero W v1.1 to turn an old iPod Hifi into an airplay source using shairpoint-sync. This problem is only present on Pi3 and also the same with all other HifiBerry/PyFy modules.

Warning: Some distributions (for example OpenElec) have an old Kernel which has a Bug in the Pi3 Bluetooth driver and prevents all audio modules from working - in this case Bluetooth must be disabled with an additional overlay file or the Kernel must be upgraded (LibreElec for example already has a newer Kernel and this problem is fixed). If you want to try it with Raspbian or any other distro just search the internet - there are lots of tutorials available for the HifiBerry Digi or PiFy modules (which all use the same drivers).

  • Put the SD card back into the Pi and start it again.
  • Add 1 line at the end of the config.txt file: dtoverlay=hifiberry-digi.
